EgyptAir has announced the launch of free messaging and internet calling services onboard selected flights, marking a new step in the airline’s efforts to improve the passenger experience and keep pace with global trends in in-flight connectivity.
The new service will allow passengers to stay connected with family, friends, and business contacts during their journeys through supported messaging applications and internet-based calling platforms, without additional charges.
Ahmed Adel, PR Director of EgyptAir Holding Company, said the launch reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting the changing expectations of modern travelers.
“Today’s passengers expect to remain connected wherever they are,” Adel said. “This service is part of EgyptAir’s broader strategy to improve onboard services and provide a travel experience that matches international standards.”
Captain Montaser Manna, aviation expert and former senior official at the Ministry of Civil Aviation, described the decision as a positive development for both passengers and the airline’s competitive position.
“In-flight connectivity is no longer considered a luxury feature,” Manna said. “It has become an important factor in passenger satisfaction, particularly for business travelers who need to remain accessible throughout their journeys.”
According to EgyptAir, the service will be rolled out gradually across equipped aircraft, with plans to expand it to additional routes and fleet segments in the future.
Manna added that the initiative could strengthen EgyptAir’s standing within the regional aviation market.
“Providing free messaging and internet calling services places EgyptAir among airlines that are actively adapting to changing passenger expectations,” he said. “Such investments contribute directly to customer loyalty and the overall travel experience.”
The announcement represents another step in EgyptAir’s modernization efforts as the national carrier continues to expand its service offerings and enhance its competitiveness within the global aviation industry.
